Following today’s five-and-a-half-hour livestream unveiling 26 cast members for Avengers: Doomsday alongside Robert Downey Jr., it turns out that wasn’t the full story.

Shortly after the reveal, Robert Downey Jr. took to social media, sharing: “That’s what you call a deep bench of talent… actually, it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it… right?”

In response, Marvel Studios’ official account teased, “there’s always room for more.” This aligns with a report from The Hollywood Reporter, which suggests Marvel isn’t done announcing the full cast, though it remains unclear when additional reveals might take place.

Production on the film is already underway, though much of the filming is expected to occur on closed interior sets, allowing the studio to maintain an air of secrecy around the project.

Several major MCU actors and characters were notably absent from the recently announced lineup. Among the missing were Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt, Mark Ruffalo, Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, Benedict Wong, Charlie Cox, and Hayley Atwell.

While some actors from the original X-Men films were announced, notable names like Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore were noticeably missing. Fans also pointed out the absence of cast members from both the Guardians of the Galaxy series and the Eternals movie, sparking speculation about their potential involvement.

Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is expected to continue over the next few months, wrapping up by late summer. Post-production will follow, leading up to the film’s scheduled release on May 1, 2026.
