Powercor says it’s not to blame for brand new streetlights that have never been switched on at the Wiltshire Lane and La Trobe Street intersection.

The lights were installed, along with new traffic lights, back in March as part of the multi-million dollar ‘Keeping Ballarat Moving’ project.

Powercor spokesperson Jordan Oliver says they haven’t received the required documentation from the Department of Transport’s electrical works project manager and so can’t be sure the lights are safe.

He says once they receive the paperwork, they’ll look at getting them switched on straight away.

“Has anything happened or is it the same old excuses?” said a frustrated Malcolm Freeman on social media.

“What is the issue?” he said.

The Department of Transport has been contacted for comment.
