The CFA says a bushfire at Mt Buninyong this afternoon is not yet under control.

The fire started just before midday, with around 20 emergency vehicles responding to the blaze as well as multiple helicopters.

An initial leave now warning for Buninyong and Scotsburn has now been replaced by a watch and act.

The bushfire is travelling in a Southerly direction towards Scotsburn.

A Relief Centre opened at 2.30pm at the Buninyong Community Facilities and Reserve located at the corner of Forest and Cornish Streets.

Meantime the CFA says Mt Clear and Mt Helen residents near Boak Road should also be on alert.

Thankfully, an out-of-control bushfire there has now been brought under control, smoke will still be visible, however.
