Detectives from the Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit and Divisional Response Unit have arrested three teenagers following an investigation into two alleged carjackings in Lucas earlier this month.
The incidents occurred at a shopping centre car park between September 7 and 9 where two people were allegedly assaulted and received minor injuries.
Arrested were a 15-year-old boy from Alfredton, a 15-year-old Melton girl and a 19-year-old woman from Bacchus Marsh.
“While carjackings are extremely rare in Ballarat, we fully understand the concern this may cause in the community when incidents like these occur,” said Acting Superintendent Jason Templar.
“We want the community to know that we have teams of dedicated detectives in Ballarat who work day and night to investigate and apprehend anyone engaging in criminal activity.”
“Our officers have increased our patrols in the area, both on foot and on the roads to provide reassurance to the community,” he said.
The 15-years-olds will attend a children’s court at a later date with the Bacchus Marsh woman bailed to appear again on October 3rd.
