Despite the Ballarat Show being canceled this year because the new Mt Rowan showgrounds are not ready, organisers say there’s still plenty of ways to get involved.
Craft, cookery, flowers and photography competitions are going ahead, as is a kids colouring competition, with the Horse Show moving to the Kingston Showgrounds for the year.
Jackie Kalogerakis from the Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society says it was a difficult decision to cancel this year’s event, but they’re planning a big return next year.
“It was a very sad experience to have to go though, especially with three or four generations of my family that have come through the show.”
“But you know sometimes change is good, we’ll be bigger and better, and we’ve got lots of fun things coming to Ballarat,” Ms. Kalogerakis said.
The society are currently planning the return of the show in November 2025 at the new Mt Rowan facility.
