A stunning visual journey through the everyday lives of Hazaras in Afghanistan was unveiled last night in Ballarat.

“Afghanistan Through the Lens” is the work of renowned photographer, filmmaker and human rights activist Muzafar Ali.

“I think this is so timely and important to show what we have lost in Afghanistan.”

“The photos depict the golden moments of Afghanistan when we had democracy, freedom and kids and girls where free to get an education,” Mr. Ali told this newsroom.

The free exhibition is presented by the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council, Ballarat Afghan Action Group, Ballarat Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support Network and Rural Australians for Refugees with support from the Victorian Government, the Ballarat Library and Ballarat International Foto Biennale.

You can view it at the Ballarat Welcome Centre at Barkly Square weekdays throughout June.
