Work has now begun on the second stage of a local wind farm, currently the largest under construction in the Southern Hemisphere.
With all agreements in place, Tag Energy has greenlit construction of 93 wind turbine generators for the $4 billion Golden Plains Wind Farm, near Rokewood.
Once completed in mid-2027, the wind farm will deliver 9 per cent of Victoria’s energy and produce 1,333 megawatts of electricity.
Tag Energy’s Managing Partner in Australia, Andrew Riggs, says 31 of the 122 turbines are already erected.
“This next stage, the remaining 93 [turbines] in the project approval [will] just be a continuous build,” he said.
“The folks in the region will see just a continuation of turbine deliveries and steady progress on putting them up.”
