Despite reports around the state of some ANZAC Day ceremonies being under threat for financial reasons the President of the Ballarat RSL says we don’t have that problem here.

Frank Nuccio says planning is coming together for April 25 at the Sturt Street Cenotaph, as we prepare to commemorate the 110th year of the landing at Gallipoli.

“ANZAC Day ceremonies in Ballarat do not cost the Ballarat RSL any money at all.”

“I’ve got to give a shout out to the City of Ballarat because the major cost for ANZAC Day is the infrastructure, putting in the roadblocks, the seating and all of that.”

“Everyone else that participates does it as a volunteer,” Mr. Nuccio said.

Ballarat will hold a dawn service from 6am followed by a march and ceremony at around 11am. Exact times are to be confirmed.
