Rise in snake catcher calls as weather warms up

As the weather warms up, Ballarat’s snakes start to come out of hibernation and seek the sun.

Local snake catcher, Gianni Hodgson, says he’s getting around 3 calls a day to come and move the venomous creatures.

Mr. Hodgson says we get a range of snakes in Ballarat.

“In the Ballarat area, [there’s] a lot of copperheads, tiger snakes, the occasional brown snake and I think I’ve had one or two red bellies in the area,” he said.
