A ground search will take place in Shepparton tomorrow for missing Golden Point man Gary Butt.

The 73-year-old, who lives with dementia, left his home in Ballarat on the morning of September 22nd and failed to return.

Despite having no known ties to the area, police enquiries revealed Mr. Butt was last seen in the vicinity of the Shepparton Railway Station at 10pm the same day.

Mr. Butt does not have a mobile phone and left without his medication and a limited amount of food and clothing.

Ballarat and Shepparton police, along with police search and rescue specialists and more than fifty SES volunteers will conduct a search along the Midland Highway in Shepparton East on Wednesday.

The search will also cover farmland, orchards, irrigation channels and grassland next to the highway.

Police are urging residents and business owners along the Midland Highway to check their farm sheds and other structures for Gary.
