Paula Doran has been named the new Liberal candidate for Ballarat in the upcoming federal election.
She will run against the incumbent member, Labor’s Catherine King, who was first elected to the seat in 2001.
The announcement comes after former Liberal candidate Wes McKnight sensationally pulled out of the race last September, citing dual citizenship concerns.
Ms. Doran is the founder of recruitment app Rockt and previously worked as a journalist with the ABC and The Age, before moving into communications and marketing roles.
In a statement, Ms. Doran says as someone who has worked alongside farmers, business owners and regional families, she knows the potential that exists in Ballarat and wants to make sure the city and surrounding areas get their fair share.
