Over 1,000 furry friends adopted from Ballarat shelter last year

Over 1,000 animals at the Ballarat Animal Shelter found a new home last year.

856 cats and kittens, 293 dogs and puppies and 5 rabbits and guinea pigs were adopted from the shelter by the end of 2023.

Last month, a number of pets spent their Christmas in a new house, with 23 dogs and 41 cats and kittens adopted in December.

The shelter says animals are always available for adoption, with locals able to make an appointment by emailing animalshelter@ballarat.vic.gov.au or by visiting 5A Gillingham Place in Alfredton.
