Cafs in Ballarat is one of eight organisations receiving funding through the State Government’s $7.8 million Rental Stress Support Package.
With around 5 per cent of Victorian households facing serious rental stress, the money will help families in Ballarat and surrounding areas stay in their homes and prevent homelessness.
Manager of Client Engagement and Community for Cafs, Stacey Lee, said the support package comes at a time where they’re seeing more people needing assistance than ever before.
She says the funding will allow them to further advocate for renters at risk and identify additional supports that may be available, with a view to keep people in a home in the long term.
Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gabrielle Williams, said in a statement the organisations supported through the package do critical work to support renters and they’re proud to support them.
