The Ballarat Foundation have launched a new fund, in honour of late Ballarat resident James Petrie.
The local teacher and footballer lost a battle with depression last year, with the foundation creating the James Petrie Fund to help projects that support youth and respond to mental health issues in the Ballarat region.
A fundraising event to support the fund, Peach’s Run, will be held on November 11th, calling on locals to conquer 33 laps of Lake Wendouree – as James was 33 years old when he passed away and wore the number 33 for the Waubra Football Club.
