New drive looking to increase rural speech pathologists

Federation University has launched a drive to increase the number of people studying to be a speech pathologist.

The university says there’s a skills shortage, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas.

150 students are currently studying the course, with most walking into jobs as soon as its finished.

Speech Pathology Discipline Lead from Federation University, Professor Chyrisse Heine, says the whole aim is that students go back and work in the regions.
