If you’ve had your car broken into over the past year, you’re not alone.
According to the latest data from the Crime Statistics Agency, incidents of crime in Ballarat are up 13.3 per cent compared to the previous year, with the total number increasing to 9,321 in the 12 months to March 2024.
Ballarat Central, Wendouree and Sebastopol were named the worst suburbs for crime in the city.

Theft from a motor vehicle was the most common crime in the Ballarat region, with 1,357 incidents recorded.
This was followed by other types of theft, criminal damage and breaches of family violence orders, all up on last year.
The data also found the majority of criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2024 were listed as unsolved.
