A new place for Ballarat locals to drop their cans and bottles will be opening soon.
McCallum Disability Services are expanding their recycling program and will open another container deposit depot at 6 Neerim Crescent in Mitchell Park from December 27th.
It complements the organisation’s Canadian depot in Butt Street, which provides jobs for their clients.
Executive Manager at McCallum Disability Services, Matt Vallance, says the response from the community has been overwhelming.
“We’re averaging about 40,000 [cans and bottles] a day, which is about 1.3 million we’ve put through since November 1,” he said.
“[It’s a] really positive start, and we’re opening the second depot in just a few days now to help get people through quicker.”
