The City of Ballarat has revealed all safety switches in the newly installed lights around Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park will need to be replaced.
Witnesses say large banks of the lights, especially on the southern side of the lake, have not been working, making walking or running on the Steve Moneghetti track at night dangerous.
Council CEO Evan King says the fix won’t cost ratepayers any more money.
“This week, all of the lights from McArthur Street to the yacht club will be replaced with the new switch. We will eventually replace all of them, but we are just doing them in banks at the moment,” he said.
“I certainly understand it’s a frustration for those wanting to use [the Lake].”
