The company behind the largest wind farm in the southern hemisphere says they’re looking to bring more green energy projects to the state.
On Friday, the first turbines at the over 1,300-megawatt Golden Plains Wind Farm near Rokewood started spinning and feeding electricity into the state’s grid.
The farm will eventually deliver up to 9 per cent of Victoria’s energy.
Managing Partner of TagEnergy, Andrew Riggs, says Victoria is a very supporting environment for their investments.
“We’re looking to bring more of these types of projects in to help keep the downward pressure on electricity,” he said.
“When there’s a shortfall of anything, prices rise, and by bringing more renewables into the system that have zero operational costs, they naturally put downward pressure on electricity prices.”
