An Aussie-trained sprinter with local ties has picked up one of the biggest racing wins in the world.
Ballarat based-trainer Henry Dwyer’s mare Asfoora, rode by Oisin Murphy, has claimed the 1,000 metre King Charles III stakes on the opening day of Royal Ascot.
Mr. Dwyer has stables in the city and St Leonards, near Geelong.

Asfoora is just the sixth Australian horse to win the race, with the feature sprint worth $1.2 million.
