Five First Nations artists have been commissioned to develop sculptures for Sovereign Hill’s new Wadawurrung Cultural Precinct.
The new precinct aims to encourage a deeper understanding of the traditional owners in the Ballarat region.
Contributing artists include Aunty Marlene Gilson, Dr. Deanne Gilson, Tammy Gilson, Kait James and Lynette Fagan.
The space is backed by a $6 million Victorian Government investment and is expected to be completed by June next year.
In a statement, CEO of Sovereign Hill, Sara Quon, said the precinct is a unique opportunity to understand more about Wadawurrung culture and give more visibility to First Nations stories.
