How many parking fines were handed out in Ballarat last year?

Over a million dollars in parking fines were handed out in Ballarat across 2023.

Data confirmed by the City of Ballarat found $1,674,638 worth of fines were issued last year, which includes those that were later found exempt or withdrawn.

Sturt Street was reportedly the area where most parking fines were issued, with 2,131 handed out, followed by Mair Street at 1,962 and Armstrong Street North at 1,912.

In a statement, the council says the money is returned to their consolidated revenue budget, used to provide local government services to the community.
