Despite the cancellation of the regional Victorian Commonwealth Games, the Mayor of the Hepburn Shire is confident Creswick’s mountain bike trails will get finished.

The state government has committed to complete all promised games infrastructure including 5000 extra seats at Mars Stadium, a new athletics facility at the current Ballarat Showgrounds and Creswick’s trails.

Hepburn Mayor Cr. Brian Hood says the trails should be finished later in the year after he and fellow councillors toured the works late last year.

“We’re well over the halfway mark of the 60 kilometre’s and there’s no doubt that the project will be finished.”

“It’s going to be a wonderful facility for the Creswick community and for others, it’ll increase visitation and be a very attractive asset,” Mayor Hood said.

Meantime, the Hammon Park Trailhead in Creswick is complete and open for use.

Features include a play area, climbing rope tower, pump track, cycling jumps, amenities including a Changing Place accessible toilet, maps, signage, learn to ride tracks, BBQ area and future connection to the Creswick Trails.
