A year after being granted permanent residency in Australia, former asylum seeker Neil Para says many in the community are still stuck in limbo.
Last year, the Ballarat resident walked 1,000 kilometres from the city to the Prime Minister’s office in Sydney, raising awareness of the thousands of asylum seekers and refugees in Australia living in uncertainty.
Mr. Para says he hopes there will be a solution soon.
“There wasn’t a fair go from the previous government.”
“I have a good feeling about the current government, I always say they are a compassionate government.”
“Because of that compassion my family got granted a visa, and I have a feeling that others will also get an opportunity like my family had,” Mr. Para said.
