CEO Evan King says throwing out food makes up about 40% of our general waste.

“We’re really keen to be able to use biodegradable liners.”

“The reasoning behind that is, we call it the yuck factor, obviously food organics can be a bit messy and can be a bit smelly, it’s important to make separating food organics out as simple and as easy as possible,” Mr. King said.

The council tender for the supply of kitchen caddies, liners and information packs is expected to be awarded by early September with 51,000 properties participating in the program by 2025.
