Emergency crews respond to several requests for help after wild winds

Emergency crews are urging locals to be patient, as they deal with a backlog of requests for assistance.

Between 5pm last night and 8am this morning, SES volunteers in Ballarat attended over 60 requests for assistance, with most regarding downed trees and building damage.

The Ballarat Airport weather station recorded wind gusts of 93 kilometres an hour at 11:30pm on Sunday.

SES crews are reportedly expected to work into the night after the number of calls for help.

The SES urge people needing assistance for 132 500.
