Council aiming to improve their financial forecasting

The CEO of the City of Ballarat, Evan King, says his team is aiming to get better at its financial forecasting.

Last week, local councillors signed off on more than $24 million of budget carryovers, for projects that have rolled into the next financial year.

Mr. King says a carryover can happen for a range of reasons.

“We want to minimize carryovers. We want to do what we say we’re going to do in the year we say we’re going to do it, but sometimes projects get delays for a whole range of reasons, and we need to move those funds into the next financial year,” he said.
