It’s still unclear when Reid’s Guest House will shut its doors for good.
In April, Uniting VicTas announced the historic Lydiard Street building, which for over 20 years provided a safe haven for those sleeping rough, will close.
The organization said the building was no longer fit for purpose, citing issues with heating and accessibility.
Uniting said they intend to sell the building and find suitable alternative accommodation for residents.
“Several have already moved on to other forms of accommodation, which is fantastic,” said Senior Manager of Homelessness at Uniting Ballarat, Adam Liversage.
“There’s still a small amount that we need to find suitable accommodation for [and] we’re very confident that we’ll get that job done and we are intensively supporting those remaining at Reid’s through that process,” he said.
