Call for overhaul of Ballarat bus network

A member of Ballarat Council’s Disability Advisory Committee says an overhaul of the city’s bus network is desperately needed.

Heidi Biggin says she’s forced to spend about $200 a week on taxi’s because there’s no bus route anywhere near her Lucas home.

She says given the growing population in Ballarat’s west; she can’t understand the lack of public transport.

“I don’t know how many houses are in Lucas now, but there’s thousands; it’s seven square kilometres,” she said.

“There’s retirement villages and doctors and vets, everything’s in there and no bus.”
