‘Because every call for help should be heard’ – Ballarat council backs DV Safe Phone initiative

Ballarat residents are being urged to donate their old phones to a worthy cause.

Queensland based not-for-profit DV Safe Phone collects and re-purposes mobile phones to give to domestic violence support organisations.

The phones then give victims a link to emergency services and loved ones.

Collection boxes for old phones are now available at multiple City of Ballarat facilities, including the Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, Alfredton and Lucas Community Hubs and Ballarat libraries.

Since 2020, DV Safe Phone has collected, repaired and distributed free mobile phones to domestic violence victims through a nationwide network of more than 400 agency partners including DV agencies, police stations, hospitals and safe houses.
