Ballarat has been selected to host Cricket Australia’s National Under 17 Male Championships, with the country’s best junior male cricketers heading to the city in January.
The week-long carnival will feature 30 matches between states and territories from around the country, with all of the 50-over matches to be held in the city.
Kicking off on January 4th, the event is expected to attract around 450 people for the week and contribute $550,000 to the local economy.
In a statement, Ballarat Mayor Des Hudson said he’s thrilled Cricket Australia has selected the city as the host for the important cricket event.
He says Ballarat’s reputation as a sports event destination continues to grow in leaps and bounds.
