Ballarat set to host cyber security conference, as interest soars

Ballarat is about to get its own version of a global community-driven cyber security conference.

Called ‘BSides’, the event will come to Federation University next month, and feature speakers from Microsoft, Telstra and IBM.

There are currently versions in 257 cities around the world.

Organiser Dr Paul Black says interest in cyber security is sky high.

“BSides [has] taken the university’s top venue which is the Emerging Technologies Hub, and that seats 150,” he said.

“We’ve sold all 150 tickets and we’re really looking forward to it.”
