Ballarat Olympic swimmer Shayne Reese has pleaded for water users to stay safe this summer.
It comes as drowning deaths at Australian beaches have surged by 45% compared to the ten year average.
Shayne says its critical we teach our kids water safety techniques.
“Every year the stats come out and they just seem to be climbing which is actually really sad.”
“We have our own swim school out in Delacombe and getting kids educated, experienced and learning those vital water safety skills is really important,” Mrs. Reese said.
Meantime, Shayne Reese Swimming has announced plans for a second swim school in Ballarat, with the first sod on the Alfredton project expected to be turned next year.
