Ballarat Heritage Watch says it likes its chances of winning at an upcoming V-CAT hearing against council.
The group is taking the city to the umpire to try and lower a proposed new building near Gov Hub that would sit at six storey’s tall.
President of Ballarat Heritage Watch, Stuart Kelly, says the planned new building won’t fit in with the lower heritage ones around it.
“I’ve had a number of discussions with various councillors and we agree to disagree,” he said.
“There are some areas in Ballarat which probably could take higher buildings, but we’re reluctant to accept that the inner city, which is part of a heritage precinct and predominantly two and three storey buildings, can wear six and seven storey buildings.”
