Several Ballarat council workers will stop their normal duties over the coming days.
Last week, services union members on council voted to begin industrial action after rejecting a new enterprise agreement.
Members are calling for a pay increase of six per cent in the first year, followed by five per cent in the next two.
A follow up meeting on the agreement is being held with council.
Some of the strike actions being taken include work bans on street sweeping, restrictions on mowing in parks and garden and issuing warnings instead of fines for parking infringements, with the actions to be changed every few days.
Temporary messages about the union’s campaign will also be written on school crossing shelters, council vehicle windows and council building windows.
Negotiations over a new enterprise agreement have now been going for six months, with the union saying some Bendigo and Geelong workers are paid around $4,000 a year more than their counterparts in Ballarat.
