The City of Ballarat says work it’s doing behind the scenes to make Victoria Park an appealing place for events will hopefully get funded.
Despite attracting upwards of 30,000 concert-goers last year in Ballarat, ‘Spilt Milk’ won’t go ahead this year after being called off nationally.
Council Chief Executive Evan King says they’ve applied for $5.3m through the Regional Tourism Investment Fund for the project.
“[The funding will go] to looking at putting in drainage, putting in electricity, putting in water and some roadworks,” he said.
“If we can try and reduce that bump in costs a bit, then hopefully we can play our part in trying to keep those events we’ve got and attract new events.”
