A Ballarat company, specializing in water tank installation and maintenance, has been fined thousands by WorkSafe Victoria.
In April 2022, workers from Water Tank Solutions Victoria were repairing, draining and cleaning a 2.1 metre deep tank at a Yendon property, which also included replacing the tanks metal roof.
During the works, a 43-year-old worker fell head-first into the concrete tank, suffering serious head and neck injuries that left him paralysed, whilst another suffered a shoulder injury.
WorkSafe says inspectors attended, finding there was no safe work method statement in place, which is required for high-risk construction work.
The company reportedly pled guilty to two charges of failing to provide and maintain a safe system of work.
They were sentenced at the Ballarat Magistrates Court earlier this month and fined a total of $45,000, including $3,960 in costs.
