The future of the Ballan Autumn Festival hangs in the balance beyond 2025 with the Moorabool Shire withdrawing funding this year.

According to organisers, council had previously paid for $9000 worth of traffic management.

Festival Vice President Miranda Williamson says it’s disappointing, but the community has rallied to make sure this year’s event does go ahead this Sunday.

“Yeah, it’s disappointing.”

“A lot of people assume that it’s put on by the council or they’re involved, when it’s actually a group of volunteers that completely organise it.”

“But we’re lucky that we’ve had a lot of local businesses and people come forward this year and donate,” Ms. Williamson said.

The largely free event is on this Sunday the 16th March between 9am and 3pm.
