An innovative part of the $23.3m Bridge Mall redevelopment is starting to reveal itself.
A portal, which is still under construction, can now be seen on top of where the Yarrowee River flows under the mall.
Many Ballarat locals appear unaware that the river is even there.
Meantime, the City of Ballarat now says the bridge strengthening works in the mall are expected to be complete by early next year bringing no through-traffic or Christmas trading joy for businesses.
“The City of Ballarat is working with construction company, 2Construct, and traders to minimise disruption,” said a council spokesperson on its website.
“In the meantime, we urge the community to Shop the Bridge and support local this Christmas season – shoppers can park nearby and explore the revitalised Bridge Mall on foot.”
