A new program will see the City of Ballarat partner with residents and businesses to tackle the problem of graffiti across the city.
Running for 18 months, the trial will help locals remove graffiti from their homes and workplaces at no cost, with council allowing residents to access graffiti cleaning kits.
Under the initiative, businesses and third parties will also be able to enter into an agreement with council, allowing their graffiti team to clean up the vandalism.
Previously, council could only remove graffiti from their own assets, such as public toilets, skate parks and bus shelters.
Deputy Mayor of Ballarat, Cr. Ben Taylor, says graffiti isn’t just a City of Ballarat problem, it’s something we all need to tackle together as a community.
He says we’re all proud of our community, so let’s keep it looking vibrant and welcoming.
The kits can be collected from The Phoenix building at 25 Armstrong Street South or at a community expo at Ballarat’s Civic Hall on March 20th and 21.
