Mike Myers Roasts Elon Musk in Surprise SNL Cameo

March 3, 2025 1:43 pm in by Trinity Miller

Comedy legend Mike Myers made a surprise return to Saturday Night Live, taking on the role of tech billionaire Elon Musk in a satirical cold-open sketch. The skit parodied a chaotic White House meeting between former US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with Myers’ Musk making an over-the-top entrance, chainsaw in hand.

The unexpected cameo delighted fans, marking Myers’ first SNL appearance in years. The Austin Powers star’s exaggerated portrayal of Musk leaned into the billionaire’s recent controversies, including his political outbursts and unpredictable behaviour on social media.

Musk’s Wild Persona Gets the SNL Treatment

The skit, which aired on March 2, didn’t hold back. Myers’ Musk interrupted the political meeting, claiming to be there to “fix democracy” before launching into a series of bizarre rants. At one point, he referred to himself as the “real-life Tony Stark but with more Twitter meltdowns.”

The parody also poked fun at Musk’s latest antics, including his recent appearance at a conservative event wielding a chainsaw, an incident that sparked online debate about his increasingly erratic public image.

A Divisive Reaction

As expected, the sketch triggered mixed reactions. While many praised Myers’ performance as a comedic masterstroke, others criticised SNL for taking cheap shots. Some Musk supporters slammed the show for being “classless,” while others found the satire spot-on, arguing that Musk had become a natural target for late-night comedy.

The portrayal also reignited discussions about Musk’s own hosting stint on SNL in 2021, which was met with similarly polarising reactions.

Is Myers Back for More?

Fans of Mike Myers were left wondering if this cameo signals a return to sketch comedy or if it was a one-off moment of nostalgia. Either way, the combination of one of comedy’s biggest icons taking on one of the world’s most controversial figures proved to be a winning formula, at least for those who enjoy a good roast.
