The Shadow Minister for Housing paid a visit to Ballarat yesterday to inspect social housing in Delacombe, or lack thereof it.
Homes were bulldozed in the suburb back in 2023 to make way for new ones, however they’re yet to be built.
Richard Riordan says there should’ve been a quick turnaround time for the displaced tenants.

“I have no problem with us keeping social housing up to speck and making sure we’ve got good, safe, contemporary housing,” he said.
“But if we’re going to pull down and evict people from public housing for the purposes of redevelopment, you would expect the government would be ready to go so we’ve got the minimum amount of turnaround time before there’s the new housing there.”
