The township of Halls Gap is open again to visitors following the 76,000-hectare Grampians National Park bush fire.

The blaze raged for three weeks however tourist hotspots in the area were largely not impacted.

“From COVID we still basically have hardly any businesses re-opened seven days a week, they haven’t been able to get back on their feet 100% from that period.”

“Then of course there were the Pomonal bushfires, they impacted Pomonal the most severely, but it did have a knock-on effect to Halls Gap in a very big way.” Cr. Hide said.

Parts of the national park that were not affected by fire will re-open at 9am this Friday.

Visitors are reminded to be cautious of ongoing risks and changes in the environment which may include smoke, fallen trees or branches, and injured wildlife.

Drivers may encounter fire crews and heavy machinery on roads and tracks with Emergency Management Victoria urging safe driving.
