A Lucas disability advocate is encouraged by a new bus route to the suburb but says there’s still many questions to be answered.
Following a petition, the current route 10 service will be extended into Lucas Estate from late February, connecting passengers between Ballarat and Wendouree stations.
However, current loops via Alfredton and the Ballarat city centre will be removed to avoid duplicates with other services.
Heidi Biggin says this isn’t a ‘tick the box’ exercise for Lucas residents.
“I’ve got a lot of questions to ask. Being so soon, where is the community consultation? Where are the bus routes? What [streets] will the bus run? There’s a lot of questions still to be had,” she said.
“You can’t just say that you’ve delivered a bus network, and then it doesn’t actually reach the community it serves.”
