The City of Ballarat has launched its biggest road maintenance blitz, with over $6.2 million going into improving the quality, safety and reliability of the local road network.
With patching, resurfacing and resealing taking place over the next five months, the 2024-25 maintenance program will be the largest annual investment in Ballarat’s road maintenance and will address potholes, cracks and deteriorating surfaces across the city.
The blitz will target over 340,000 square metres of roads, including key routes such as Alfredton’s Dyson Drive, Ballarat East’s Scott Parade and Wendouree’s Link Road.
Council says they will aim to minimise disruptions to residents and businesses where possible.
City of Ballarat councillor Tess Morgan says there’s been a real effort to increase the spend on road maintenance.
“So many people care about the safety and the quality of our roads,” she said.
“It’s really exciting to be able to announce so much spend on our roads to ensure they’re up to scratch, they’re safe, they’re usable and we can get to where we need to go.”
