In a surprise move the VEC has this afternoon confirmed who all nine City of Ballarat councillors will be for the next four-year term.
The declaration of the poll was expected Tuesday afternoon.
Returning councillors will be Des Hudson who easily won Sebastopol, as well as Samantha McIntosh, Ben Taylor and Tracey Hargreaves.
Jim Rinaldi will also be a familiar name to many after previously serving on council, he’s won in North Ward.
In Golden Point Tess Morgan has defeated Mark Harris with Damon Saunders winning Alfredton and Ted Lapkin Brown Hill.
Showing the power of preferences even at local government level, Jay Morrison has won Wendouree over former mayor and state politician Josh Morris. Samantha McIntosh also won because of preferences over former Greens councillor Belinda Coates.
