Temps hit 21C in Ballarat but don’t put the puffer jacket away just yet

Ballarat’s temperature has today surged into the 20’s for the first time since April, that’s above what was forecast and way above average.

The city recorded a high of 21.1C at the Ballarat airport weather station at 1pm helped by a gusty northerly wind.

The average top temperature for Ballarat in September is 13.9C

It’s not all spring sunshine however with temperatures forecast to plummet on Wednesday with a top of just 13C forecast and between 3 and 10mm of rainfall to hit local gauges.

A sheep graziers warning has been issued by the bureau ahead of the cold front.

“Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and showers and southerly winds are expected during Wednesday evening.”

“Areas likely to be affected include parts of the Central and East Gippsland forecast districts.”

“There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions,” said a BOM spokesperson.
