On Thursday September 19, 2024, the Ballarat Fish Protection Society and Anglers’ Club Inc., and the Ballarat Fly Fishers Club will be holding their annual Legacy fund-raising evening, the Ballarat Fish Protection Society and Anglers’ Club Inc., hall, 114C Wendouree Parade, Ballarat commencing at 7.30 pm.
The Ballarat Fly Fishers’ Club members will be on hand to give a demonstration of artificial fly tying and the fly’s made will then be raffled, with the funds raised given to support Ballarat Legacy in their dedicated and continuing support of returned servicemen/women, along with their families Ballarat Legacy was founded in 1926 to cater for the needs of widows and their families whose husbands and fathers had been killed in World War 1.
The Ballarat Anglers’ Club gave its first donation to Legacy in 1926 a few months after Legacy was established and has done so on an annual basis ever since.
Ballarat Fly Fishers’ Club became involved in 1949 with the raising of funds with the B.A.C by attending the fund-raising night and giving a fly-tying demonstration.
The Ballarat Fish Protection Society and Anglers’ Club enjoy hosting this evening and supporting Legacy in their invaluable work in providing support and assistance to the families of the members who have so bravely fought to make this country of ours, the great place that we call “home” Supper will be provided and everyone will be made especially welcome.
