Speed limit cut on notorious Clunes bridge after community campaign

The speed limit will be cut across a notorious Clunes bridge, after a prolonged community campaign.

In July last year, a petition was launched by Member for Ripon, Martha Haylett calling for the speed limit on Bailey Street Bridge to be reduced from 60 to 40 kilometres an hour.

It came after two near-misses on the bridge and even refusal by some residents to drive over the bridge.

The petition received over 450 signatures.

In a statement, Ms. Haylett thanked all the local businesses, residents, clubs, and groups involved in the win.

The revised speed limit will be put in place from mid-July.
