A significant grant milestone will be achieved in Creswick today.
The Creswick Community Bank, which has now existed for 17 years, today notches up more than $2 million given back to the communities of Creswick, Clunes and surrounds.
The banks Chairman Marcus Walsh says the community bank model keeps branches open in small towns.
“Back in that time there were three other banks in Creswick and we could see the writing on the wall that those other organisations were leaving small towns like Creswick.”
“So, a community group got together and said enough is enough, we need to step up and be proactive in our community,” Mr. Walsh said.
A celebration of the milestone will be held from 7pm tonight at the Doug Lindsay Reserve.
